Interview Bloomberg News (TV) in my office

Another Bloomberg interview today 5 August, same place (our meeting room), same lady – Christine Hah, just another cameraman as my friend Dieter left for Belgium.

This time, a near two hour discussion, I can say mostly covering the newsletters I am currently working on: the e-vehicle market in China, the challenges China is facing in 2014 plus “restauration” of the Gulou area. And about the complicated USA-China relations.

Gilbert on am774 Beijing Radio: Brazil, Belgium and football

This time, “Mighty Bruce” wanted to know more about my Brazilian past. See here:

You can listen here (I won’t!):

The interview has really forced me to dig into my museum of pictures. The picture with my Ford Galaxie also shows my late wife Danielle, mother of my daughter Marianne who was born in Recife. See here others not used, showing how Brasilia, the capital of Brasilia, looked like in late 1979.

The pictures were taken in the center of the new capital and on the main boulevard, with the ministries lined up. It looks empty, quiet. Little vegetation. I cannot imagine how it looks like now! The pictures are scans from diapositives, with my new powerful scanner. Still a lot to learn how to improve the scanning.

Gilbert this morning on BBC Radio, live

I was at the BBC’s Beijing Office this morning for a live interview by BBC World Service, Business Matters, arranged by Lucy Burton, Business Journalist, BBC in the UK. Beijing time 9 to 10 am, UK time 01 am to 02 am.
I was (alone) in the radio room, listening to the one hour program and being interviewed a couple of times.

Topics covered were the latest world news, protests in Turkey, protests in Thailand, Greenpeace Activists released in Russia, Romanian Orphans – 23 years on –, Mao’s birthday in China, Gilbert’s book “Toxic Capitalism” and more.
I think every interview – and I’ve had many – is different and this one was certainly a new experience. All went pretty well and you can feel those people at the BBC know their job. All smooth.
Maybe more to come, I don’t know…
Listen here, I come up after some 18 minutes:  http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01nbn6l

Gilbert on Beijing Radio AM774

I was interviewed by Bruce Conolly on 20 November in my office, our Scottish radio man with the “pleasing and clear voice” (says my wife). He recorded enough for a couple of clips on the radio. It was a fun experience. I also sent him some old-time pictures.

Two already were aired, see here the links.
Unfortunately you need Windows to listen to the audio as the website is still stuck in the 20th century. Does not work on MAC. If you connect on WeChat to the service, you can listen also on your iPhone.
