China is facing “grim” fiscal conditions, according to comments attributed to Premier Wen Jiabao. The situation requires “the unswerving implementation of proactive fiscal policy and relatively easy monetary policy to shore up the economic recovery,” state media reports.
The Chinese economy is “at a critical moment on the road to recovery,” Wen said, and the fiscal conditions remain “grim.” The Premier urged provincial finance authorities to “cut back unnecessary expenditure,” and “put the money into the real economy to promote solid recovery.”
The Premier’s comments come days after a controversial report produced by a Washington-based Asian economic policy unit questioning China’s first-half GDP growth figure. The Heritage Foundation report, entitled China Refuses to Adjust Its Economy, raised questions about how China could “survey the economic progress of 1.3 billion people” in 15 days, concluding the economic results were “manufactured to suit the Communist Party.”
So far for the news flash. People should pay more attention when top leaders come with such announcements. They signal some serious concerns – and I agree. See earlier entries on this blog. We are NOT out of the woods yet. As for the GDP figures, I believe them as much as the top financial analysts and economist of the West. Meaning: wild and meaningless – most have no clue.

Couldn’t resist to post a better quality pic of the sisters (22 & 20 years). Apparently they did not join the catwalk but they were welcoming guests. They were very friendly, looked good in real but also turned out to be photogenic.

Hot Spring Leisure City, earlier visit
As promised, pics from an earlier visit on 27 May, together with my good friends, the ambassadors of Albania and Congo (Brazzaville). See previous entry for some of the background of the resort.
The whole area is vast, see the scale model. Total investment is said to be RMB 3 billion. Two thousand guest rooms, 50 meeting rooms, thermal hot spring from a well 3000 m deep.
The Wenyu River is at the north and the resort has 7 Km of water channels. Plenty of hotels indeed, the Lakeside Hotel (see pic in the lobby) is still under renovation.

Poor Americans, can’t drink till they get really old, poor Chinese who can’t learn about the birds and the bees (green Wall and stuff). No wonder some go for binge drinking. Or think that sleeping in the same bed makes babies. OK, our Chinese friends are now recovering from that ignorance at a lightening speed, you bet. Unfortunately, due to the 60 years anniversary of the PRC they all have to behave again till that f#### holiday is done with. No more s*e*x education till then.

We noticed that this incarnation of Haibao recently appeared on the official EXPO site. It’s officially called “Haibao in a black suit”, but can we be the only people to think this looks like Undertaker Haibao, and what could that possibly signify??
